High-Rolling in Macau

A short flight from Taiwan, we spent a few sleepless nights gambling and exploring the former Portuguese colony-turn-Chinese tourism mecca of Macau. Between the authentic Cantonese street food, numerous shopping outlets and of course the glitzy casinos, Macau was a great pit stop as we made our way overland across the border into mainland China.

The energy and crowds around the Ruins of St. Paul’s are a little reminiscent of those at the Piazza di Spagna in Rome

The Portuguese influence in Macau is still evident by the still-sizeable population of practicing Christians in the area

Macau feels like a mix between Hong Kong and Monaco

The Macau Science Museum was a surprisingly fun experience and much-needed break from all-night gambling!

Ah yes, slot machines: still the best way to get rid of any loose change you may still have!
