Two Years Off Photos from a backpacking journey around the world

Adventures from the Galapagos Islands

We just got back to the mainland after a wonderful 8 days in the Galapagos Islands–one of the most amazing nature and wildlife sanctuaries in the world! As promised, we took literally thousands of photos. But there’s no way to capture everything we experienced over on the islands. So we’re only going to post a few photos here and perhaps several more later on (after sorting through them all!). From the lush rainforests to the amazing coral beaches to the highland volcanic craters, there was so much to see and do! In addition to cavediving and hiking, we also swam with giant sea turtles, reef sharks, spotted manta rays, sea lions, and even Galapagos penguins!

Paddling through the mangrove marshes of Turtle Cove near Santa Cruz Island–and watching out for snakes and sharks!

The Giant Tortoise–a species endemic only to the Galapagos Islands

Hiking up the newly-formed volcanic peak at Bartolome Island

We snorkeled twice a day, everyday–at nearly every spot you can imagine around the Galapagos! (Thanks for the photos, Chris!)

All the pictures are just wonderful! I definitely love the descriptions that you are now adding to the photos. If I have to decide on a favorite picture of the Galapagos Visit, it would be Anh Kevin laying with the group of sea lions, though I still couldn’t tell which one is Anh Kevin but thats just minor details. (joke) I look forward in seeing new updates as I have it on RSS feed now. Thank you for taking the time out to sharing your adventures with us.

The trek thorugh the lava flow is very dyanamic, it looks epic! (great photo-taking skills, anh Kevin! Nice beard, too.)

The picture with the sea lion colony was really funny, it made me smile!

Chi Ki, you look very cute in the group-lesson-with-Ruben picture and the picture where you’re hiking up the new volcanic peak at Bartolome ISland!

How did you get through that rainforest without a machete? It looks like an impenetrable wall of foliage. The lava tunnel cavern looks AMAZING.

All those animals (the tortoise and the iguana) are HUGE! That’s terrifying!
I’m glad to see that mailbox you mentioned. Somehow, I Was imagining a cardboard box on the floor.

The photoes of you two together at the beach are really nice. When you come home, those are definitely frame-worthy.

Thank you for all the captions to the photos. :)

Thanks so much doing this journal. It’s so fun to go traveling with you two! You look like you’re having a great time. Maybe it’ll inspire my husband to go somewhere this summer!!
